Gramajul (g/m²) spune cât bumbac e în prosop. Sub 400 g/m² se subțiază repede; 500–600 g/m² e densitatea folosită în hoteluri — gros, absorbant, și rămâne pufos.

Prima spălare separat, la 40°C, fără balsam — balsamul acoperă fibra și reduce absorbția. Uscare la temperatură medie ca să rămână pufos.
